E-bike Across Canada

Megan Smith on the bike through Canada.

Today we visited the studio where Megan Smith and saw her most fascinating installation: a bicycle connected to a projector and google maps. You get the feeling of driving through Canada. You can follow Megan's travel through Canada on YouTube.

You can follow Megan's trip here. And here is one of her YouTube videos:

We also tried to ride the bike in her studio, and we talked about teaching code between art and computer science.

Public Lecture: The Crowd and the Genius

At 12:00 in the Shubox Theatre @ University of Regina I gave a public lecture:

"The Crowd and the Genius".

The lecture was introduced by Dr. Kathleen Irwin. Linda Nguyen reserved the theatre and made sure that all details worked out fine.

After the lecture some of the students and professors asked questions. ess that most of the audience came from the arts, but there were also students from Computer Science.

The students and assistant professors on one of the images below asked about the creative loop concept - we ended in exchanging ideas on how to teach data visualization.

The great teepee construction.

The ceremonial teepee.

The First Nations University

Around 17.00 we went to the art gallery @ The First Nations University. We had a talk with the artist, and she explained the symbols of her spiritual journey and walkings.

At the exhibition we met the associate professor Lionel A. Peyachew. He kindly invited us to the ceremonial teepee, and explained the traditions and ceremonies in the teepee when the elders meet. He is the artist who helped the students to create the ceremonial sticks, and he has made the sculpture four ways.

We also exchanged words: how to say hello in Cree: dansay. And in danish: goddag.

Friday 11th

Attended to DG's art class. Introduced how to create an online portfolio, and how to have a professional presence online. Here's the outline:

Portfolio Class @ UoR 2016

Definition:

An artist's portfolio is an edited collection of their best artwork intended to showcase an artist's style or method of work. A portfolio is used by artists to show employers their versatility by showing different samples of current work. Typically, the work reflects an artist's best work or a depth in one specific area of work. (Wikipedia)

Definition Electronic portfolio:

An electronic portfolio (also known as an eportfolio, e-portfolio, digital portfolio, or online portfolio)[1] is a collection of electronic evidence assembled and managed by a user, usually on the Web. Such electronic evidence may include inputted text, electronic files, images, multimedia, blog entries, and hyperlinks. E-portfolios are both demonstrations of the user's abilities and platforms for self-expression, and, if they are online, they can be maintained dynamically over time.
